Comparison
The best link in bio tools for founders
Most link-in-bio tools are made for creators selling to an audience. Founders need something else: a place to show what they are building. Here is how the main options compare.
We make What I Am Building, so weigh that as you read. Everything here about other tools comes from their own websites, last checked October 30, 2026.
The short answer
- Several projects to show? What I Am Building. It is free, and the page is built around projects.
- Selling to an audience? Linktree or Beacons.
- Want your own domain and design? Carrd.
- Just a plain list of links? Lnk.Bio, or Linktree's free plan.
- Want a network as well as a page? Peerlist.
How do they compare?

Linktree's prices vary by region; these are the US ones. Check each tool's site before you decide, as prices change.
What should founders look for?
- Does it explain your work? A visitor wants to know what you are building. A bare list of links makes them click to find out, so look for a page that shows what each project is and where it stands.
- What does looking professional cost? Check which plan removes the tool's branding and which adds a custom domain. On Linktree, removing the branding takes the Pro plan, from $14/month billed annually.
- Can it keep a secret? If you are working on something unannounced, check whether the tool can list a project without showing its name or link.
- Will it still be here? Bento.me, a popular free option, closed in February 2026. Whatever you choose, keep your own copy of what is on your page.
Each tool in brief
What I Am Building
Best for: founders with several projects to show
Made for this exact job. Your page lists every project with its status and progress, and stealth mode covers the ones you cannot talk about yet. There is nothing to pay for. The trade-offs: no custom domain, no visitor analytics, no way to sell, and your page carries the What I Am Building bar.
Linktree
Best for: creators sending a social audience to links and products
The best-known link in bio, and what most people mean by the term. Your page is a list of links, and the paid plans lean toward creators: scheduling social posts, growing an email list and selling products and courses. A good fit if you have an audience to send somewhere. Removing the Linktree branding takes the Pro plan.
Beacons
Best for: creators selling digital products
A bigger toolbox for creators, with a media kit, digital product sales, email sends and AI credits on the free plan. It takes a 9% fee on sales on the Free and Creator plans. Worth a look if you sell directly to an audience, and more than you need if you just want a bio link.
Carrd
Best for: founders who want their own domain and design
A one-page site builder rather than a link list, so you design the page yourself from a template or a blank page. It is cheap: $9 a year removes the branding and $19 a year adds a custom domain. The best pick if you want your own address and do not mind the design work.
Lnk.Bio
Best for: a plain link list with a one-time price
A simple link list with a free plan. Its cheapest paid plan is $0.99 a month or $9.99 once, and a custom domain is a $29.99 yearly add-on. Good if you want a plain list of links and prefer paying once.
Peerlist
Best for: tech professionals who want a network and job listings
A professional network for builders rather than a bio-link page. Your free profile gathers your work from other platforms, and you can host it on your own domain. It also has project launches and job listings. It is aimed at tech professionals, especially designers and developers.
Questions founders ask
- What is the best free link in bio for founders?
- For showing several projects, What I Am Building: every feature is free and the page is built around projects. We make it, so compare for yourself. Carrd's free plan is the better option if you want to design your own page, and Linktree's if you only need a list of links.
- Is Linktree free?
- Linktree has a free plan with unlimited basic links. Paid plans start at $7 a month billed annually, or $9 monthly. Removing the Linktree branding takes the Pro plan, from $14 a month billed annually.
- Do founders need a link in bio at all?
- If you run one company with one website, that website is enough. A link-in-bio page earns its place once you have several projects, or want one address that stays current as they change.
- Is a link-in-bio page better than a personal website?
- A personal website gives you full control of the design and address, but takes time to build and keep current. A link-in-bio page takes minutes to set up and you update it from one dashboard.
