Guide
How to add multiple links to your X bio
X (formerly Twitter) gives your profile one Website field. To share more than that, paste in a single page that holds everything else. Here is how to do it in a few minutes, for free.
How many links can you have on an X profile?
One. When you edit your profile, you get a Website field and a bio of up to 160 characters. That is fine with one company and awkward with four.
What are your options?
| Option | Good for | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| A link-in-bio page | Several projects, always up to date | Visitors take one extra click |
| A pinned post | One launch or announcement | It is one post, and it goes stale unless you replace it |
| Web addresses in your bio text | One extra link at most | It eats into your 160 characters, and guides disagree on whether it is clickable everywhere |
For more than a link or two, a link-in-bio page is the option that holds up.
How do you do it, step by step?
- 01
Make your page
Sign in to What I Am Building with Google or email and claim whatiambuilding.com/yourname. It is free.
- 02
Add your projects
Give each a name, a short description and a link, then set it to building, launched or paused.
- 03
Open your X profile
On x.com or in the app, go to your profile and choose Edit profile.
- 04
Paste your link
Put your page's address in the Website field, then choose Save.
What should your bio say?
With 160 characters to work with, say what you do and leave the links to your page. A few to adapt:
- Building Sonar and two other things. Everything I make is in the link below.
- Founder. Four products live, one in stealth. All of them below.
- Indie hacker shipping in public. Every project and its progress is below.
How do you keep the link working?
Edit your projects whenever you like: the link in your bio stays the same. The one thing that changes it is your username, because changing that breaks the old address, so pick one you will keep.
Questions people ask
- Can you have more than one link in your X bio?
- The Website field on an X profile holds one link. To share more, put a link-in-bio page in that field and keep the rest of your links on that page.
- Is a link-in-bio page free?
- Many have a free plan. What I Am Building is free with no paid plan at all, and it is made for people showing projects rather than selling products.
- Does this work on LinkedIn, GitHub and Instagram too?
- Yes. Your page is a normal web address, so it works anywhere you can paste a link.
- What should a founder put in their X bio?
- Say what you are building and who it is for in a line or two, then use the Website field for a page with all your projects.
